Digital menu platforms in Italy: prices we checked by hand
If you are looking for a digital menu in Italy you will have noticed something: almost every "best platforms of 2026" list is written by one of the platforms on the list. Guess who wins.
This page is written by FlyMenu, so the same warning applies. What changes is the method: the prices below were read one by one on each vendor's own pricing page, last checked on 14 October 2026, they are all excluding VAT as the vendors publish them, and where a competitor is cheaper than us or does something we do not, it says so.
That said, we are not hiding behind impartiality: on three things we come first on this list, and the table shows it rather than claiming it.
We are the only one with no language cap. Everyone else sets one, and sets it low: Stello stops at 15, Leggimenu at 13, Qromo at 50, Famenu at 60. On our Premium that ceiling does not exist — the menu comes out in every language you need, today and in two years, without changing plan.
Allergens and translations live on the same record. Change an ingredient and the fourteen icons update in every language at the same instant. It is the line no price list tells you about and the one that actually matters: where translations are manual, the Italian stays right and the German goes wrong, and a wrong allergen in one language is worse than a missing one.
Photos of the dishes have no plan limit, not even on the free plan. Elsewhere they are the feature that forces the upgrade: on Leggimenu they arrive with Premium, on Stello with the paid plans.
And we keep not one cent of your takings, which not everyone on this list can say.
The entry price tells you nothing, because almost nobody puts automatic translation in the base plan. This is the real figure, in euro per year, for a menu that translates itself:
| Platform | Yearly cost with automatic translation | Languages |
|---|---|---|
| MenuDigitale.io | EUR 79.90 | not stated |
| Famenu Pro | EUR 106.80 (EUR 8.90/month billed yearly) | 3 |
| Menù di Oggi | EUR 140 (Personal, one venue) | not stated |
| FlyMenu Basic | EUR 179 | 5 |
| Famenu Premium | EUR 238.80 (EUR 19.90/month billed yearly) | 60 |
| Stello Base | EUR 24.99/month (the price list states two months free yearly, approx. EUR 249.90) | 15 |
| Leggimenu | EUR 299.90 (Premium Plus) | 13 |
| Qromo Basic | EUR 348 (EUR 29/month billed yearly) + 1.6% of your takings | 50 |
| FlyMenu Premium | EUR 349 | no limit |
| Menù di Oggi Business | EUR 390 (up to 5 venues and 10 users) | not stated |
The most widely used plan in Italy, Leggimenu Premium at EUR 199.90, does not include automatic translation: for that you move to Premium Plus at EUR 299.90. That is 68% more than our Basic, for the same function.

"Not stated" means exactly that: we did not find it on their public pages. Not that they do not do it.
Five rows deserve a word more.
Importing from a PDF or from photos. The menu you already have — the PDF of the last print run, or photographs of the paper pages — goes in as it is: dishes, sections, descriptions and prices are read and arrive already sorted, ready for you to correct. It is not a shortcut that takes control away from you: nothing goes live without your approval, and the review always matters, because on a handwritten or crooked page the reading gets something wrong. But the difference between retyping eighty dishes and proofreading eighty already entered is the difference between an afternoon and twenty minutes. Two things to know first: allergens are recovered only if they were printed on the paper, and the reading does not translate — the other languages come afterwards from automatic translation, which is a separate step.
Scheduled menus. You set the day and the time slot, and the menu switches itself on and off: breakfast until 11, the wine list always, the lunch menu Monday to Friday, pizza in the evening only. Nobody has to remember to change anything, and the guest who scans the QR code at noon does not see the cocktail list.
Delegating to collaborators. You can give edit access to someone outside — the designer, the son who looks after the website, the consultant — and decide whether they see all the menus or only the ones you choose. The menu stops being something only one person can update.
The printable document. Going digital does not remove paper, it makes paper cheaper. You can generate a single document that combines several menus — starters, wine list, desserts — and several languages in the same file, choosing between price-list or à la carte layout, A4 or A5, with or without a cover, in colour or black and white. It comes out ready for the printer, and when a dish changes you regenerate it instead of redoing the layout.
Dish photos. With us they carry no plan limit at all: you can put them on the free menu. Elsewhere they are the classic feature that forces the upgrade — on Leggimenu personal images arrive with Premium, and in public reviews that is one of the most recurring complaints.
The glossary and translation memory. These are not a checkbox, they are the reason "baccalà mantecato" comes out the same way in German months apart and across different menus. The platform maintains them; you configure nothing. It is the work behind the words "automatic translation", and no price list ever describes it.
Allergens on the same record as the dish. This is the row that matters most, and the one the price does not tell you: change the ingredient and the fourteen icons update in every language at the same moment. Where translations are manual, that does not happen — and an allergen that is wrong in one language only is worse than an allergen that is missing.
The line that really moves the price is translation
It is the least obvious item and the one that weighs most. Almost everyone advertises "multilingual", but multilingual and automatic translation are two different things:
- multilingual means the menu can exist in several languages — but you write the translations, or pay for them, and you redo them every time a dish changes;
- automatic translation means you write the dish in Italian and the other languages follow.
Leggimenu states the difference plainly: the Premium plan at EUR 199.90/year includes six language variants but without automatic translation; AI translation arrives with Premium Plus, at EUR 299.90/year. On Qromo, translation into 50 languages starts from the Basic plan at EUR 29/month billed yearly, and is not on the free plan. On FlyMenu it is included from the Basic plan at EUR 179/year, with five languages, and with no language limit on Premium.
If your dining room is local and you rarely see a foreign guest, none of this applies to you and you should just look at the price — in which case MenuDigitale.io at EUR 79.90/year is the cheapest serious option there is.
Allergens are not a differentiator
Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 requires the 14 allergens to be shown, and every platform in this comparison handles them, including on the free plans. So it is not a criterion — it is the floor.
The real question is different: when you change an ingredient, does the allergen update in the other languages too? If the translations are manual, no. The Italian stays right and the German goes wrong, which is worse than saying nothing at all.
Who each one suits
FlyMenu if your dining room sees foreign guests. That is the case it was built for, and the case where the difference shows at the table: you write the dish in Italian, you tag the 14 allergens once, and every language updates in the same moment. There is no German version left two seasons behind — which is the most common, and most serious, way to get an allergen wrong. It also includes the venue mini-site with its own QR code and an export to a printable document for when paper is still needed. The data sits in Europe, in Falkenstein, Germany, and we do not merely say so: it has been verified by an independent European directory, which no one else on this list can show.
What we do not do, because being chosen for the wrong reason serves nobody: no till, no orders, no payments. We sit next to the system you already have, and we keep none of your takings.
MenuDigitale.io if price is the only criterion. At EUR 79.90/year it includes translation, a web page and WhatsApp ordering. Below that figure there is nothing serious.
Qromo if you need the till. It is not a competitor to digital menus, it is a full management system: point of sale, table ordering, payments, bookings, kitchen display. If you only want a menu you are paying for a lot you will not use; if you are digitising the whole venue, it is the only one here that gets that far.
Leggimenu is the most widely used in Italy and it shows: settled support, delivery features, till integration. It also has the most fragmented price list — Premium, Premium Plus, Brand — so add up the parts you actually need before signing.
Stello has the most generous free plan for someone who only wants to try (50 dishes, two languages) and 15 AI languages from the first paid plan.
Menù di Oggi if you run several venues or want time to decide. Personal is EUR 140 a year for one venue; Business covers five venues and ten users for EUR 390, which is EUR 78 per venue, the lowest figure on this list for anyone who really has five. Its free trial is 45 days, the longest in this comparison: ours is 21. After the trial, though, you pay — there is no permanent free plan, while ours stays free indefinitely within its limits. It does not state how many languages it translates into, and the contract runs for a year with no automatic renewal.
How to read any comparison, including this one
- Check the date. A comparison with no date is useless: these price lists change every few months, and several articles in circulation still quote terms the vendors have already changed.
- Open the official pricing page. No summary table, this one included, replaces it.
- Add up the parts, do not read the entry plan. The price you will pay is the plan that contains the feature you need — almost never the first one on the list.
Prices read on each vendor's official site, excluding VAT: first collected on 19 August 2026, checked again on 9 September, fully re-read on 14 October 2026 with Menù di Oggi added. One correction in that last pass was about us: we used to write that Qromo's automatic translation started at the Pro plan, EUR 588 a year, when it is already included in Basic at EUR 348 — the comparison flattered us and was wrong, so we changed it. If you find something out of date, write to us and we will correct it: we would rather have a table that is right than a table that is convenient.
