61st Venice Biennale

9 May–22 November 2026 (Ongoing until the end of November) The world’s most famous contemporary art exhibition. Feast of Our Lady of Health


21 November 2026  One of the traditional festivals most cherished by Venetians, commemorating the end of the plague of 1630. A wooden votive bridge is erected across the Grand Canal to allow the pilgrimage to the Basilica della Salute.

Christmas and New Year in Venice

1 December 2026 – 6 January 2027  The Christmas season is characterised by a unique atmosphere: lights reflecting off the canals, Christmas markets in Campo San Polo and in the squares of Mestre, and New Year’s Eve celebrations with fireworks displays over St Mark’s Basin.
In 2026, Venice will offer an extraordinary programme of celebrations, festivals and centuries-old traditions: a blend of art, music, historic regattas and ancient rituals that transform the city into a stage unlike any other in the world.
